Overview

Located within the Kowalski Market at Southdale Center in Edina, Pizzeria Pezzo delivers an authentic taste of Chicago deep dish pizza right in the heart of Minnesota. This pizzeria stands out by offering a true Chicago experience, from the buttery, crunchy deep dish crust to the robust, scratch-made tomato sauce that sits atop layers of fresh mozzarella and carefully selected toppings.

The menu caters to both traditionalists and adventurous eaters. For fans of classic flavors, the Gold Coast Meat deep dish, loaded with sausage, pepperoni, meatballs, and prosciutto, offers a hearty, satisfying meal. Veggie lovers will appreciate the Lincoln Park Veggie, which balances fresh spinach, mushrooms, green peppers, and garlic in a thick, comforting crust. Those seeking lighter fare can begin with appetizers like the Caprese salad, featuring fresh mozzarella and basil drizzled with a balsamic reduction, or the Cipollini Mascarpone Dip, a rich, warm offering that pairs perfectly with their freshly baked house bread. This range of options complements the robust pizza lineup and suits a variety of diners’ preferences.

The deep dish here is carefully crafted, with a focus on quality ingredients cooked in a way that respects the traditions of Chicago-style pie. The sauce on top, a hallmark of the style, provides a rich, tangy finish that lovers of hearty pizza will appreciate. While some first-time visitors might find the delivery and carryout setup inside a grocery store unusual, the convenience of picking up a gourmet meal along with groceries resonates especially well with busy families and professionals in the area.

Service receives glowing praise, with staff known for their friendly, accommodating approach that makes ordering effortless. The cozy spot inside Kowalski Market may be easy to miss, but once discovered, it offers a welcoming atmosphere perfect for takeout or a casual meal. Diners who appreciate authentic Chicago deep dish will find themselves returning, drawn by the genuine flavors and consistent quality.

Overall, Pizzeria Pezzo is a standout destination for those seeking a slice of Chicago in the Twin Cities—offering satisfying, well-made deep dish pizzas, thoughtfully prepared appetizers, and a smart location that fits the rhythm of modern life. Whether you’re a deep dish devotee or simply craving a comforting meal with fresh ingredients, this pizzeria delivers an experience worth exploring.

Edina is basically a carry out place. Pizza outstanding just the same as white bear lake. Finding it was a nightmare. There should be something on the website explaining where it is. I walked southdale for 30 minutes. Nobody knew where it was. Directory boards only use QR scanners. It is inside the Kowalski market. ARRGH!!!!! I will go back after I stop being pissed.

Delicious pan pizza YES! Sauce is so tasty with real Italian style mozzarella cheese and high end pepperoni! Sauce is on top like Chicago style deep dish pizza and it will look super sloppy if you do not carry it home upright or if someone drops it! SALAD IS DIVINE! Price is fabulous for two people, first order was med pan pizza with salad we split. We spent around $40 plus we had leftover pizza! Second time we had the small for two people and a salad for $23 it was enough for the two of us!! This fabulous gem is right inside the mall entrance to Kowalski's - if you come in from parking lot you will have to walk thru Kowalski's past their hot buffet foods. High tail it through that section to the Pizzeria Pezzo and enjoy some healthy fresh cooked food! Matt took our order (he did our first visit too) and our service was SPECTACULAR!! THANK YOU!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Super friendly and accommodating staff. Amazingly delicious pizza. They conveniently locate inside of grocery store. That way you don't have to go out to eat after you come home with your groceries

Prepare yourselves for thorough & helpful, albeit lengthy, review. Please reference the attached images to aid in understanding details of my review. Hopefully you'll feel it was worth the read as it was certainly written from the heart. First, just as FYI, I flipping LOVE Chicago style pizza pies. I've been known to drive to Chicago for the soul purpose of getting said pizza. Shoutout to Pequod's (admittedly a combo Chicago/Detroit style pizza pie place), the makers of my fav pizza in the Chicago area. Pizzeria Pezzo is, & has been for many years, my fav for the MN metro area. Here begins the review of Pizzeria Pezzo - Edina in earnest: Confident they washed their hands and know how to properly make a delicious Chicago style deep dish pizza & then prep said pizza for carry-out and/or delivery. Their coal-fired pizzas are generally very yummy as well. Chicago style pizza pie (response to other reviewer): I can only presume the individual that posted a 1 star review around August '24 & was accompanied by a photo of a disheveled looking pizza may be unfamiliar with Chicago style pizza pies, and that their (or a delivery driver's [if utilized]) driving was erratic &/or the pizza fell/was dropped by someone other than the restaurant staff. This is the only way that I can empathize with their disappointment/surprise. However, I do wish that in such situations individuals would reach out to the restaurant & include that response in the review as well. 1- Uncooked dough was likely just the cheese that sits directly on top of the dough. 2- Not being pre-cut is standard protocol as the sauce, which sits atop all the other layers, will seep to the bottom of the cut area causing the crust to become soggy, & as we all know, no-one likes a soggy bottom (que British Baking Show meme/gif). 3- Disheveled w/film/protective barrier sitting atop the saucy top is there to keep the sauce from developing a dry film-like layer & to prevent the sauce from moving around too much which would end up causing a crumpled/sloppy appearance. Chicago style deep dish pizza pie (ordered The Wrigley): The sauce wasn't quite as flavorful as I recall from the original White Bear Lake location, but was still yummy & had a great consistently. The crust was excellent w/taste, texture, & form. The cheese layer was great and had a nice mozzarella taste. Will order double meat next time as there wasn't quite as much as I prefer, but that's on me. Coal-fired pizza (ordered The PePe 6"): Wish the cheese wouldn't have gone all the way to the edge to allow more of the "charred" bubbles around the crust. However, I only ordered a 6" so that part could be my bad. The bottom did have the char I was looking for.
